- Disconnect Challenge - Media Diary (Part 1) starts today ... please keep a journal on the yellow pages that were sent home last week. Record why/how you're using media (e.g. for entertainment, learning, communication, etc.) and how much time you're spending on it
- Scholastic Orders are due this Wednesday, February 12th
- Wednesday we will be celebrating Valentine's Day (click here for more information)
- Wednesday is a half day - dismissal/pick-up is at 11:45am
- Thursday/Friday/Monday - no school (Convention and Family Day)
Highlights from our learning today:
- for word work, we made words out of the letters in VALENTINE, and we got to use the SMARTboard (Drayden)
- in music, we reviewed some things from Grade 1, like do-re-mi-fa-so-la-ti-do (Chasity) and we found the name MI-LA (Myles)
- in social studies, we recorded music and dance in our visual journals for the three communities, the North, the Prairies, and the Maritimes (Jaxon)
- in writing, we worked on our alliterations (Alivia)
Here's how we make alliterations. First, we brainstorm words:
F: fantastic, face, free, flag, funny, Ford F-150, Fortnite, family, foe, friends, feast, freckles, Fred, flip, food, fruit, Freddie, Frank, France, french fries, Frankenstein, five, Ferrari
Then, we put as many of those words together to make a silly sentence tongue twister alliteration:
- Friends Frank and Freddie ate funny french fries for food in France.
- Frank was playing Fortnite in his Ford F-150 with his family and friends.
- Frankenstein and Freddie were flipping and flying across the frosty field, free and fun.
